Application Forms
We encourage email application and provide these forms as Microsoft word documents for you to download, fill out and email to the current board President, John Myrdal Jr (myrdal@hawaii.rr.com). Alternatively you could mail the application or final report to John at Kaneohe Yachting Foundation, 44-503 Kaneohe Bay Drive, Kaneohe HI 96744.

Two types of support are provided:
  • Travel and other costs for sailing clinics and competition outside of Hawai`i.- These are primarily intended for youths who are seeking advanced training or seeking to build their sailing competition skills and resume outside of Hawai'i. Of special interest are nationally recognized sailing clinics and national championships in various class boats. Application from adults will be considered, but they must meet a special burden of demonstrating participation in world-class events such as Olympic sailing. Each successful applicant must submit a final report after the event, and we may demand that they aid in future fundraising events. For Summer events, you should submit your request prior to April 30 to ensure competition on an even field with other applicants, but requests will be accepted at any time.

  • Scholarships for summer sailing classes at Kaneohe Yacht Club.- Classes at KYC for pre-teen (9-12 years old) beginners. Our only restrictions are that the applicant must NOT come from a KYC member family and must be able to swim. We want to introduce more young O'ahu kids to the sport of sailing who might not otherwise have the opportunity. We offer scholarships to attend the introductory KYC Teen-Beginner classes that teach general boat knowledge, rigging, basics of sailing, water safety and confidence in boat handling on all points of sail. Some of the past recipients of these scholarships have gone on to become world-class competitive sailors! All have added a valuable skill to their lives.
  •    The value of this scholarship is about $215 that is paid in full. If the student does not own a life jacket, we will also provide funds for that purchase.
Classes usually meet Monday - Friday, 1:30 - 4:30 pm.
Four sessions are offered in 2006:
           5-16 June
           19-30 June
3-14 July (4th of July off)
           24 July - 4 August
For more information on the classes, call KYC at 247-4121.
