WINDOWS 7 & VISTA ALERTS?
We thought that Windows 7 and VISTA delivered an unexpected artifact, touching the F1 key no longer activated the help file/users manual. It turns out that Windows 7 & VISTA, themselves, were not at fault. Our new updates should solve this problem for most installations. In case it does not, the updates also install a separate icon (
 ) on your desktop to open the help file.
Windward Technology released a new simulation in the Summer, 2005, "Captain of the Queens" for fans of the QE2, QM and QM2. It is now available for purchase in the bookstore on Cunard Lines ships and from Internet Sales. Like Cruise Ship Captain, it is an accurate simulation of piloting a cruise ship, in this case either the Queen Elizabeth 2, the Queen Mary, the Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth or the Queen Victoria.
NEW! A free version 4.2 update (3 August, 2010) is now available here for download. It includes a new harbor, Southampton, UK, the home port for the Queens and various minor improvements. It also introduces a "maximum realism" mode. During the QV's maiden World Cruise, some of the Bridge Officers helped us to improve the realism by incorporating the realistic delays that are required to rotate the pods or change the rotation speed or pitch of propellers.
To get an idea about what the simulation is like, you can download a trial copy that gives you full controls but only allows you to partially enter the harbors. After download just double-click on the file to run it and it will install itself in c:/program files/Windward Technology/Captain of the Queens. The trial version includes the full help file to allow a preview of all of the features of the full version.
